In line with section 45 of the Tax Agent Services (Code of Professional Conduct) Determination 2024, the TPB (Tax Practitioners Board) maintains a public register of tax practitioners which can help you in making the right decision in who you engage. This can help you identify registered Tax & BAS Agents including those local to you. The register includes some of the following information;
You can find the register at the following link – https://www.tpb.gov.au/public-register
There are a few ways you can utilise the search function of the Register.
You can search your Tax or BAS Agent by name, suburb & state to find details about whether they are registered, as well as any disqualifications & details of public court matters. Alternatively, you can simply type in your address or postal code & the website will locate Tax Practitioners within a 75km radius from you.
Along with the public register, the TPB also welcomes all feedback including complaints about the services you have received from a registered tax practitioner.
If you are ever dissatisfied or have a complaint regarding our Tax Agent Services, we highly encourage you to firstly reach out to your Accountant direct and/or our office to discuss and resolve your complaint in house. We take pride on the relationships we build with our clients and want to ensure you are satisfied with the services provided to you.
If you are unhappy with the outcome of your complaint, the TPB offers a complaints system through their website with the use of a simple online form. You can find the form here – https://myprofile.tpb.gov.au/complaints/
The website includes information about where to lodge your complaint depending on the subject, as well as a questionnaire to fill out with details of your complaint. Complaints can also be lodged for any past services you may have received from a previous Tax Practitioner – including feedback on unregistered preparers who are not complying with the law.
Please contact our office should you have any questions regarding the above.
